Wat in 2016 begon als een vriendschappelijke competitie tussen Los Angeles en San Francisco, is uitgegroeid tot een van de grootste biodiversiteitsinitiatieven ter wereld, waaraan jaarlijks tienduizenden mensen deelnemen.<\/p>\n<p>De Challenge vindt elk jaar eind april plaats. <strong>Deelnemers fotograferen of registreren wilde planten, dieren, schimmels en sporen van wilde dieren en uploaden hun waarnemingen naar iNaturalist<\/strong>. Zo leveren ze waardevolle gegevens die worden gebruikt in biodiversiteitsonderzoek en natuurbehoudsplanning. In 2025 zullen naar verwachting meer dan 400 steden wereldwijd deelnemen, waardoor een wereldwijd overzicht van de natuur in stedelijke omgevingen ontstaat.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Het evenement bestaat uit twee fasen:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Observatiedagen \u2013 Een vierdaagse bioblitz waarbij deelnemers beelden en geluiden van wilde dieren vastleggen.<\/li>\n<li>Identificatiedagen \u2013 Leden van de gemeenschap helpen online bij het identificeren van de waarnemingen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Door deel te nemen, draagt \u200b\u200bCura\u00e7ao direct bij aan het begrip van hoe de natuur gedijt in onze buurten, parken en langs de kustlijn. De Challenge ondersteunt <strong>SDG 13: Klimaatactie<\/strong>, <strong>SDG 14: Leven onder water<\/strong> en <strong>SDG 15: Leven op het land<\/strong>, en bevordert het bewustzijn van biodiversiteit en stimuleert de betrokkenheid van de gemeenschap bij de bescherming van het milieu.<\/p>\n<p>Iedereen kan meedoen: gezinnen, studenten, natuurliefhebbers en complete beginners. Een smartphonecamera is voldoende om deel te nemen.
