Official Installation of the Council of 17 Successfully Held at the University of Curaçao
The official installation of the Council of 17, the SDG Youth Platform initiated by Club17 Curaçao in collaboration with the University of Curaçao, Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez, took place on Thursday, 26 February. The event marked an important milestone in strengthening youth participation in sustainable development on Curaçao.
The Council of 17 offers students a formal and meaningful role in shaping ideas, projects, and collaborations that contribute to the island’s future. Each of the seventeen students represents one of the Sustainable Development Goals, creating a diverse and committed group of young SDG ambassadors.
The afternoon began with an informal meet and greet for partners. This session created space for open conversation, personal introductions, and relationship‑building in an accessible setting. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with the seventeen Council members and members of the Club17 Advisory Board.
The program continued with a plenary session to officially mark the installation of the Council. During this moment, the collaboration between Club17 Curaçao and the University of Curaçao was highlighted, along with a presentation of the Council of 17 as a collective. The session emphasized shared commitments to sustainable development and the importance of the SDG Badge Journey as a tool for youth engagement.
Further updates about the Council of 17 and upcoming actions under the SDG Youth Platform will be shared soon.
