Beat Plastic Pollution Curaçao: Community Action for a Cleaner Island

On June 23, 2024, Curaçao came together for the second edition of the #BeatPlasticPollution campaign. This community-driven initiative, supported by Maduro & Curiel’s Bank, Fun Miles, Van den Tweel Supermarket, FUSE, TUI, and Kooyman, aimed to raise awareness about reducing daily plastic use.

Participants who brought at least 50 plastic items had the chance to spin the prize wheel for rewards such as Kompa Leon gift cards, Van den Tweel gift cards, or Fun Miles. One lucky winner even received two tickets to the Netherlands, courtesy of TUI.

All collected plastic was processed by FUSE with support from Green Force, ensuring that the effort contributed to real recycling impact. The partners expressed gratitude for the strong turnout and encouraged everyone to keep Curaçao clean. They also called on local businesses to support recycling projects, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices for our island’s future.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all volunteers who made this event possible. The organizing partners will continue to champion sustainability through projects aligned with global goals like SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

Want to keep making a difference? You can still drop off your plastics at the Green Force containers located at Van den Tweel Supermarket.
