Club17 Curaçao Foundation officially launched
Curaçao gains independent platform for collaboration on sustainable development

Willemstad, August 26, 2025 – The Club17 Curaçao Foundation was officially launched during a press event at the Marriott Beach Resort. This marked the start of a new phase: Club17 as an independent foundation strengthening collaboration for sustainable development in Curaçao. The event was broadcast live by TV Direct.

Volunteers as the starting point
Club17 began on its own strength, fully driven by volunteers and dedicated partners. Together they showed the strong motivation and energy on the island to contribute to a more sustainable future.

A new phase
With the official establishment of the foundation, a next step has been taken. Club17 has formed a Council of Advice and works with Strategic and Founding Partners on the island. Two key initiatives are planned for 2026: the Water Refill Program, which reduces plastic use and creates an income stream to make the foundation financially self-sustaining, and the Curaçao Local Impact Program (CLIP), which makes it easy for everyone to support local projects through small contributions or sustainable choices.

The meaning of the SDGs
The name Club17 refers to the 17th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG): Partnerships for the Goals. This goal represents collaboration – the core of everything Club17 does.

The SDGs are the 17 international sustainability goals of the United Nations. They provide countries, organizations and communities with a common language to work towards a better future. The goals include clean water, affordable energy, education and health. For Curaçao, the SDGs mean that local projects and initiatives can be connected to these global ambitions, while impact becomes measurable and visible.

About Club17 Curaçao
Club17 Curaçao stands for the 17th SDG: Partnerships for the Goals. Collaboration is at the heart of Club17. The foundation brings together businesses, government, NGOs and local initiatives to take concrete steps towards a more sustainable Curaçao.
