Carmabi expands environmental education for Curaçao’s students.

This school year, the Education Department successfully delivered the Nature and Environment Education (NME) program to students in basic education and special education. Programs took place in several parks and at the Marine Education Center, offering hands-on learning about Curaçao’s ecosystems.

Despite a 20% decline in primary school enrollment over the past six years, Carmabi reached more than 14,000 primary students in the 2023–2024 school year. Many students participated twice—once in Bandabou and once at Piscadera or Mangrove Park.

The program also included 500 secondary students, with activities in locations such as the Hato Caves. By expanding to secondary education and special groups, Carmabi strengthens its impact and promotes awareness of nature conservation. These efforts support SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 14: Life Below Water, and SDG 15: Life on Land.
